We approach every portrait as something truly individual – from the first image to the final print, each portrait is treated as a piece of artwork created to celebrate the dog at the heart of it.
How We Bring Your Dog’s Tale to Life
Every dog has a personality, a story, and a place at the heart of the family. At Four Legs One Tale we turn those stories into timeless portraits.
Each portrait is carefully crafted by our family team, with patience, creativity and attention to the little details that capture what makes your dog so special.
No two dogs are the same – and no two portraits are either.
The costumes featured in our portraits have all been designed by us, making them unique to Four Legs One Tale.
To create them, we source historically accurate clothing and details which we photograph ahead of time, allowing us to capture remarkable depth and texture.
We also carefully research historical references so the final artwork feels authentic while still celebrating the character and personality that make your dog unmistakably themselves.
1) It Starts With Your Dog
Every portrait begins with a photograph that you have taken of your dog. Of the 3 photos that Bruno’s owner sent us we chose this one to work with.
2) The Background
We find ourselves constantly drawn to new backdrops – capturing them wherever we go, whether on a dedicated photography assignment or simply while travelling. Over time, this has grown into a carefully curated archive of background imagery, each piece holding the potential to inspire future costume designs.
One such creation, this our Aviator Design, emerged from the blending of two particularly evocative scenes: a dramatic, glowing sunset and a photograph taken on holiday of the monoplane Spirit of St. Louis. This iconic aircraft, flown by aviator Charles Lindbergh, marked the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight in May 1927. Together, these elements allowed us to craft a design that feels both nostalgic and timeless, rooted in the romance of early aviation.
3) The Costume
The individual costume details are photographed in our studio.
We use our own refined photo retouching and digital blending processes, which turns your original photo into a premium custom pet portrait.
Made to be displayed
Once the artwork is complete, it can be produced on a canvas using high-quality printing and materials designed to last – so your dog’s portrait can take pride of place in your home for years to come.
